TL;DR

  • There are a large number of summer skins in Overwatch 2 due to almost a decade of summer events.
  • The main way to obtain summer skins is to purchase them with credits or Overwatch coins.
  • Players can also keep an eye on the shop or hope for luck with loot boxes or events to get summer skins.
  • Some of the best Overwatch 2 summer skins in 2025 include Waveracer D.Va, Sand Castle Bastion, and Surf’s Up Echo.

Summer is officially here (this is being written at the height of summer, in July 2025), and there’s no better time to start thinking about changing up your skins in gaming to match the summer season. There are plenty of Overwatch 2 cosmetics that have a summer theme, as the game has been offering summer skins to players since Overwatch began back in 2016.

Most of the Overwatch 2 summer skins that are available in the game were released as part of the yearly Summer Games event, and we will be including every skin released for the event since the game began.

There are a few skins that have a summer or beach theme that were released at different times. Despite not being part of the main Overwatch 2 summer event, we’re still going to include these skins in our list. We’re going to be looking at every single Overwatch 2 summer skin and how to get them.

At the time of writing, the Overwatch 2 summer games 2025 skins list is not available, as the event has not begun. Any new skins released during the summer period in 2025 aren’t included here due to not knowing what they are yet (or if any are even planned to be released!).

How to get summer skins in Overwatch 2

Four colorful Overwatch 2 characters from a video game, each holding unique weapons and showcasing distinct outfits, set against an urban backdrop.
Summer skins can be earned in a few ways, but most have to be bought with Overwatch coins or credits / Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment

Summer skins can be obtained in Overwatch 2 in a few different ways. Most can be purchased by heading over to the hero menu and selecting the character whose skin you want. Once there, you can unlock them for Overwatch coins or credits by scrolling down and selecting your desired skin.

Not all of the summer skins are available in the hero menu, though. Some are available on a rotating basis from the in-game shop, so you can only access them once they make an appearance there. Others are locked completely at the time of writing, but this doesn’t mean they are gone for good. It just means that they are a bit rarer and probably won’t be as easy to obtain as some of the other Overwatch 2 skins.

A couple of the summer-themed skins were battlepass exclusives from previous seasons, so they are also rare cosmetics that won’t be available again for a while. Loot boxes can also be used to collect summer skins in Overwatch 2, but it’s very much a luck of the draw system, so it’s not the most reliable method to use if summer skins are what you are interested in most.
