Summer is officially here (this is being written at the height of summer, in July 2025), and there’s no better time to start thinking about changing up your skins in gaming to match the summer season. There are plenty of Overwatch 2 cosmetics that have a summer theme, as the game has been offering summer skins to players since Overwatch began back in 2016.
Most of the Overwatch 2 summer skins that are available in the game were released as part of the yearly Summer Games event, and we will be including every skin released for the event since the game began.
There are a few skins that have a summer or beach theme that were released at different times. Despite not being part of the main Overwatch 2 summer event, we’re still going to include these skins in our list. We’re going to be looking at every single Overwatch 2 summer skin and how to get them.
At the time of writing, the Overwatch 2 summer games 2025 skins list is not available, as the event has not begun. Any new skins released during the summer period in 2025 aren’t included here due to not knowing what they are yet (or if any are even planned to be released!).

How to get summer skins in Overwatch 2

Summer skins can be obtained in Overwatch 2 in a few different ways. Most can be purchased by heading over to the hero menu and selecting the character whose skin you want. Once there, you can unlock them for Overwatch coins or credits by scrolling down and selecting your desired skin.
Not all of the summer skins are available in the hero menu, though. Some are available on a rotating basis from the in-game shop, so you can only access them once they make an appearance there. Others are locked completely at the time of writing, but this doesn’t mean they are gone for good. It just means that they are a bit rarer and probably won’t be as easy to obtain as some of the other Overwatch 2 skins.
A couple of the summer-themed skins were battlepass exclusives from previous seasons, so they are also rare cosmetics that won’t be available again for a while. Loot boxes can also be used to collect summer skins in Overwatch 2, but it’s very much a luck of the draw system, so it’s not the most reliable method to use if summer skins are what you are interested in most.

FAQs
Event challenges and the battle pass are the best ways to get free skins in Overwatch 2, including summer-themed skins. However, the skins that can be unlocked for free depend on the current theme of the season or event. Keep up to date with Overwatch 2 on social media to know exactly what kind of skins can be earned for free.
Another way to get summer skins for free is by opening loot boxes. As mentioned, loot boxes are a luck-based system, so summer skins aren’t guaranteed, but it is possible to get them with a lucky loot box pull.
As mentioned above, there are a few ways to unlock summer skins in Overwatch 2, including the following methods:
• Purchasing them with Overwatch coins or credits via the hero menu
• Purchasing them in the in-game shop
• Loot boxes
• In-game summer-themed events and challenges
• Earning them in the battle pass.
At the time of writing, the newest Overwatch 2 summer skins are some of the Lifeguard skins, which were released in 2024. The latest summer Lifeguard skins are as follows:
• Beach Rescue Mercy
• Beach Rescue Pharah
• Lifeguard Junkrat

The best summer skins in Overwatch 2 are a matter of personal preference, but some high-quality choices are those named in our top 10 list above. Some other great options that didn’t make our top 10 include the following:
• Tropical Baptiste
• Happi Genji
• Lifeguard Mercy
• Tulum Sombra
• Ice Cream Orisa
• Côte d’Azur Widowmaker
• Sea Soldier Sojourn
Overwatch 2 summer skins can be purchased in-game by going to the hero menu, finding the right character, and navigating to the skin you want. You can then unlock the skin with credits or Overwatch coins. Some skins are only available when they return to the shop rotation, while others are locked completely, such as battle pass-exclusive skins.
